In Dunstable, we took on the task of enhancing the space of an existing Turkish restaurant by merging it with an adjacent shop. As structural engineers, our role was crucial in providing detailed structural drawings and executing thorough calculations to ensure the project’s success. Before proceeding with the wall removal, we conducted a careful inspection of the current structure, even going to the extent of exposing certain areas to better understand the floor structure above. To maximise the size of the openings and ensure the continued stability of the building, both laterally and vertically, we integrated a box frame. This innovative addition ensured that the upper structure remained supported and stable, seamlessly achieving the restaurant’s expansion goals.
